minimac Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Hi there, I am doing a production of me and my girl and have been told that there are some tap dance scenes. I would like to know what mic's I should use, price range, and any techniques that I should use. any help would be great,Cheers
IanG Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 I know somebody who was faced with the same challenge, and by their own admission failed miserably. Not because of mic technique, but because the stage they were using just didn't sound good (it creaked and was too soft). It's worth checking what your stage sounds like before you plan the mics. A number of PCC160s might be the best way forward, and shotguns might also work if you can get a few of them around the stage. If you have oodles of money, you could use shoe mounted lavs. Or you could do the Riverdance trick and just play the taps off tape.
