sarabeth Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Hey,I have been working in the London Fringe, learning on the job for about three years now, mostly in stage management but recently more technical. I wish to aim my career more in this direction. I have not met anyone who has done an ABTT award and am wondering how they are regarded. Also, if the forum members think it would be worth my while to do such a course or a waste of time and money.Thankyou,Sara
paulears Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 ABTT awards, I reckon, are valuable to the people who go on them, because of the useful content, and generally good comments they receive. To other people, they could well be an unknown quantity. People who know, know how useful they are. To somebody more distant from the industry, then they can't really find out much about their worth as they are unique to the ABTT and are not really meant to be qualifications as such - just decent extra training.
Tom Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Actually the Silver and Bronze awards are accredited vocational courses.. To quote the ABTT: "Bronze and Silver Awards are accredited by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, making the ABTT awards the first accredited vocational courses for technical and production practitioners in the theatre."
