euan Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Here's a bit of an obscure one, possibly anyone at an opera house or opera school could help. I am looking for the following tracks for a production of "lend me a tenor" 1: "Dio, che nell'alma infondere" from Verdi's Don Carlo 2: "Gia la pleiade ardente al mar discende" aria from Verdi's Otello However I need the orchestraded versions of both tracks i.e. NO VOICES.The obvious channel have failed to provide. I am aware that this is a bit of a long shot but any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks euan
Matt Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 I know I am gonna get my head knocked off for this, and admittedly I do not like to recommend it, one because I dont believe in it and two that you get all sorts of viruses from it... *Yes I am going to guys*... those dreaded things called file sharers *shivers down my spine* but I would only use that as a last minute precaution. pop your head into a music store, not virgin or ones like that, but try some of the more specialist ones, or try mvc or hmv, they usually have quite a big selection of music styles. Matt.
Jivemaster Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Backing tracks from the small ads in The Stage, or try Karaoke shops. East Midlands Karaoke in Nottingham has a big stock, www.emkaraoke.c... or look for production music from John Fiddy or KPM. There is a post here somewhere about removing vocals by phase inverting one chan and mono summing the two which cancels all the centre panned signal. Do you have a music score could you get it played for you to record.
James Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 There is a post here somewhere about removing vocals by phase inverting one chan and mono summing the two which cancels all the centre panned signal.[pedant] There is a post here somewhere about removing vocals by polarity inverting one chan and mono summing the two which cancels all the centre panned signal [/pedant] (Phase requires includes time ofset and is different to polarity.) Sorry As it happens I very much doubt that you will find an opera recorded in stereo with the vocals panned centre. As the scores for both those operas are out of copyright, how about finding a midi score and recording that? James
euan Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks for the input guys. I got there. Interesting method useful for other shows/people. The play we are doing is liscenced by samual French London, who couldn't help with the music. eventually my searching led me to Samual French New York who were able to lease the music. Samual French UK had no knowledge of the stuff held by SF US. So in the future if we are leasing from SFUK then the music will probally be available from US(but you have to contact the US direct yourself). ta peebs euan
ODownin Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Hi there, Its a long shot but this is the only lead I can find. I now need a full orchestral accompaniment (no vocals) for Dio, che nell'alma infondere but am stumped. I was wondering exactly you managed to find it in the end and if you could point me in the right direction? Hope to hear from you, Cheers, Ollie
empyfree Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/orchestra/hire Any use?
Malcolm Gordon Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 You could have tried following the route described in 2004. samuelfrench.com in NY still have the all the background music for 'Lend Me A Tenor' downloadable for a fee (there's a list), but you might need to show that you have a licence to perform it.
