mike5
I am looking for some new stage monitor speakers. What would be the best at the moment in time to do the job and what sort of price am I looking at?
cedd
How long is your piece of string? The best to do the job - depends entirely on the job! I think we need a little more info here. What is your current setup? What type and size of venue and stage? What sort of work will they be doing? (Theatrical, Rock Band?) Are you looking for powered or passive cabinets? What amplification do you have available if you're looking at passive? Monitors can range from a hundred quid up to thousands each. "What would be the best at the moment in time?" With no budget constraints, I can imagine a few people mentioning the names Martin, Turbosound and the like.
mervaka
in fact, prices can go below £100 for those best selling thomann MA120 powered monitors! not very good for much but the most basic of setups though.
johndenim
These would be my monitor of choice, given an unlimited budget! http://www.thomann.de/gb/rcf_tt_25_sma.htm John Denim

Sirch Sound
I would have the D&B M2's. Peak sound level of 143db! And thay sound abosolutly stunning. However I carnt help but feel this thread is becoming utterly pointless without any input from the OP. Rich
johndenim
On the contrary Rich, I think opinions are just what the op is looking for. Although you may be right about the lack of input. What budget are you looking at OP and what are you going to use them for? John Denim.(ps avoid the cheap carlsbro's, I have an active pm12 and passive em12 , 200w both and they sound really harsh and biting.)
Sirch Sound
On the contrary Rich, I think opinions are just what the op is looking for. Yes but we dont know if the OP has £100 per mon or £10,000. If he really is looking for the best possible monitor then yes, this thread may be useful, however I somewhat doubt it. If your going to spend that much money on mons you will have slightly more specific requirements than what he has stated. However we shall soon find out, if and when he comes back!Rich
Rob_Beech
And also their footprint. We can't suggest the M2 or an LE2100, or a TFM450 without knowing that they wont be too big, regardless of cost. We could ask, what's the best analogue mixing desk regardless of cost? alot of us would be looking at the XL4, but then if the OP says, it needs to have 4 channels for 2 radio mics and a cd player and fit in a shoe box............ I guess some people here would still say an xl4 but not everyone is gifted with common sense.
Rob_Beech
What you do in your own time is of no interest to me Ben
