the kid
For our next production of "On The Town", we are in need of a Dinosaur gobo size M in steal (a dichroic could work but I would need a older for a acclaim), I have looked through DHA but everytime I go on the site it seems to crash. Are there any other obvious places ? Can any one help? Thanks Tom ps I have looked in to getting one cut its FAR too much.
mark_s
DHA8093 ('Tiger') or DHA671 ('Dragon') seem to be the closest thing you're going to get from the Rosco/DHA ranges, after a brief look through their catalogue. Whether or not they'll work depends on the sort of look you had in mind, and how close it needs to be to your vision. I can't say about other manufacturers because I'm lazy and don't have any other catalogues to hand. Also, dichroics and glass gobos aren't the same thing

The scene is in a museum and some one refers to the Dinosaur. We would use our pacifics but they are both being used. ps is the catalogue from what is now rosco ? Dichroic is colour glass and glass is ... glass?
mark_s
ps is the catalogue from what is now rosco ? It is indeed. It lists both the Rosco and DHA ranges (although there is significant overlap, there are some gobos which appear in one but not in the other for whatever reason), and the online verison is available here. Rosco will also send you a paper version free-of-charge, if you can find where in the world they've hidden the form on their site. Dichroic is colour glass and glass is ... glass? Dichroics tend to refer to coated glass filters used for producing a consistent colour, like a gel. They're not used for projecting images as a gobo is. the kid
That must be the 3rd way to find gobos on the Rosco/DHA site each one different, each one vary's in ease of use.
boatman
If you can't find what you want in Rosco/DHA then try Goboland.
TomM
http://design.cablepick.com/gobo may be of use. Tis a site I picked up the link for somewhere (possibly here) and has a few other manufacturers' gobos included. Tom
GridGirl
Hire a Rosco iPro (Clicky) and use an acetate in a Shakespeare, Source 4 or Strand SL profile that way?
Roderick
Or just have a look around in the Blue Room.....A simple search brings up this thread.
the kid
Working from the top down - Gobo Land I had a quick look at and a search found nothing, I do have students so one of them will be looking I forgot about the gobo designer (now bookmarked) did not find anything there, but might be useful for the other gobos we are using. We don't have any Shakespeare, Source 4 or Strand SL profile, also think 0 budget to hire. I have not ruled out making I have done before. and a dinosaur is pretty complex. the kid
For a follow up - Various bits have been cut and we are now using a acetate Dinosaur in a pacific, unfortunately due to it being white bones and black background we have to run the gobo at 30% and the rest of the scene in almost darkness. We do however have the joy of a gobo change mid show for a "The End" projection. Saying nothing about the wonderful and fabulous ending all pretty and things, in comes the screen........Dinosaur.
