Sync with video

Hello all,

I'm looking for some advice as I'm constructing a system that I hope to run from a computer that enables me to program lighting scenes that will run in sync with video. I've looked at many software packages but short of learning each one I'm finding it very difficult to see which will do the job in hand.

The show has a large back-projection screen and lighting will be fairly simple using a dozen or so LED flood, 6 x PAR 64's and 4 x moving heads plus a fan and some heavy fog. We don't envisage using more than 512 channels even if it expands so a basic DMX interface would suffice. There isn't a massive budget as it's a first time out show so we won't be buying Mac's and the like!

There are around 30 musical scenes that I would like to program lights for but the show needs to be flexible in case they change the running order.

We are providing all the video and can convert it to any industry standard format but it has to be high quality not compressed too much. Ideally I'd like to use a system like a sequencer with a timeline that can run the video alongside the lighting cues but I can't seem to find a system that does this.

It also needs to be pretty much click and go as there won't be a programmer/technician running it.

Any help appreciated, I'll also be looking for quotes to supply the sound and lighting very soon if anyone's interested?

Cheers!

Hello TeeDee,

I would recommend you take a look at LightFactory for this show.

At a simple level you can create an effect type of 'Media Playback' and add this into a cue.

Each cue could contain Media and/or Lighting..

The video can be sent to a second monitor full screen (assuming you have a dual head graphics card, or laptop with VGA port)...

LightFactory will easily cope with your lighting requirements, and you have a range of options for DMX output from Enttec etc.

If will also meet your click and go requirements very nicely as it does not try to emulate a 'traditional' console, but offers a very intuitive interface.

Regards,

Paul
