oli Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 Hi everyone I need to make a DMX to ethernet convertor for a project im doing. Im assuming that it isnt as simple as making a DMX gender bender? dbuckley Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 DMX over an IP network? Oh yes, software is needed. But the first bugbear is what protocol to use over Ethernet: there are several. I'd start by looking at ArtNet from Artistic Licence, you can download it free from their website and it is probably thr easiest protocol, as well as being fairly common and well supported. bruce Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 Ah. That's a completely different thing. You just need to make up a pair of adaptors to convert the plugs. Make sure that you pick one of the "pairs" in the CAT5 for the signal.
