bruce
If you just have 2 amps, sitting side by side, with balanced inputs, then the chances are that a pair of passive splitters (a single XLR socket wired to 2 plugs) will be perfectly adequate. Or if one of the amps has a "through" connection, just daisy-chain them together. The amp input impedance will be high enough for a passive split to work. If the amps both need radically different input levels, or if one is unbalanced and one balanced, then a distribution amp would be useful. I've got one of the MX882s in an installation - simply because at the time the project couldn't afford a "proper" distribution amp. I've now got a top quality (ex-BBC) distribution amp ready to go in, but have never had any compelling reason to replace the cheapie... The MX882 a strange wee beast, but does the job perfectly well. It's very "configurable" - it can be used as a 2-in, 8-out distribution amp, or as an 8-in, 2 out mixer, or as individual buffer amps, or various combinations. Bear in mind that there is only a single stereo bus, it's not a matrix unit. The "flexibility" comes at a cost - if you're planning to use it for anything more complicated than a simple DA, look carefully at the block diagram - it may be able to do what you want, but check first. Having said all that, for about 50 quid, you won't find much else....
cliveybaby
I agree with Bruce that 2 plugs from 1 to simply feed the amps should work fine unless you need more control or different levels applied to each amp the other way is to use a speaker managment unit....Driverack, ultradrive etc this will give you all the outputs you need and give you usefulpre-amp controls like EQ, Delay and full limiting you may be able to kill 2 birds with one stone HTH's Cliveybaby
