weatherhead
I have quite a bit of old broken/replaced gear floating in and out of my workshop all the time, but this is a new one for me.Just been donated a strand GSX which had a couple of dodgy connections inside, which I have now fixed. The desk boots up and seems to be working, but it seems the storage has been borked. I need to get hold of the software for this desk. I know strand used to charge a huge amount for it, and I cannot afford to pay 400 odd pounds to get this desk working. It's sad though that such a nice piece of kit should be sitting there bricked. Does anyone know who I can contact to get hold of some software for this desk?Actually this should probably be in classifieds, I will post an ad in there as well. richard
Last thing I heard Strand were being pretty nice about upgrading the software on a GSX without big charge - if all the software is missing I'm sure that they would give you an OS disk to get it up and running if you tell them the serial number (or have a chat with WHite Light/Stage Electrics who are usually helpful on such matters)
weatherhead
I rang a bloke at stage electrics who hummed and hawed for a while and said he "wasn't sure whether they could get hold of that". thanks to the power of the waybackmachine I have managed to get a download of what I think is the operating software from strand's old website. Will hopefully have a chance to try it out before the end of the week. Please, if anyone still has software for this desk, still post. I am maybe interested intrying to get the kaleidoscope addon. Tall order, I know...

Kazeja
The desk boots up and seems to be working, but it seems the storage has been borked. I need to get hold of the software for this desk. Please advise what it says in the setup screen regarding console security number (18 digits), channels and applications.
fatfrog
Had a similar issue - turns out I had made a very small short circuit across 2 solder points accidentally. I went back and checked all my repairs and cleaned off excess solder and it's been working flawlessly since.
rossmck
New here but I have a GSX .... inherited it from a local venue getting rid of it and (3 years ago now) got someone at strand who was kind enough to send me a replacement submaster panel (free of charge) and gave me the appropriate codes to give me the full 125ch + Kaleidoscope + Communique license (also free of charge). The software isn't any different from the disks you have, it is just unlocked by a code (which is derived from the desk's serial number I believe) Still use that desk and it's never given me any bother (although the PSU did die a year or so ago, and had to be replaced with a generic one) Edit - If you don't have ANY of the original software I could probably copy one of the disks.... but I'll need to find a computer with a floppy drive first - PM me if you can't get hold of it elsewhere :P
