GazBar
Hi All, I have just started using PC Stage and am a bit stuck. I am trying to program a scene where the sound from two different ques overlaps each other however the first track always stops when the second begins. Its basically the intro music to the piece and as that fades the background noise should kick in. Its running on a machine with only one stereo output. I do have SCS which I could trigger from PC Stage but I would prefer to do everything in the one application. Many ThanksGarry
peternewman
If you create multiple tracks in the Wave Audio bit, then load each song into a different one and you can have them overlapping. I image you are loading them into the same track, so when you start the new one it removes the old one.
GazBar
Spot on, I knew it would be something simple. I am truly amazed at just how powerful this software is. CheersGarry
peternewman
Glad to be of services, and I beat dbuckley! I assume you are aware of the media timeouts in the current versions of the software if you don't have a PC Stage dongle? I've only used it for odd bits, but it is indeed very good. GazBar
Hi, We do have the dongle. Its going to be running all of our GCSE & A level performances this week. The power point control is saving loads of time, the kids have even been showing an interest in it. Garry
dbuckley
Glad to be of services, and I beat dbuckley! Excellent ;) I find it encouraging that others are now treading the path of show domination with really good software tools. Talking about playbacks, I'm currently toying with writing a plug-in to make use of Charlie Richmond's VSS audio thing. Mainly 'cos it would take audio routing and panability to the next level, and in does useful things in the sorts of sizes that folks like me can afford... I've read the contents of both mailing lists about the product (repeat after me: PG Offline rocks), and so far most folks cant seem to get past the idea that VSS has an underlying server which can be used completely independently of any of that dark strange user interface software that RSD make, and without MSC. Which suggests this is a product ahead of its time, and now is a good time to jump on board. Especially since the server already includes EQ, live inputs, and will allow VST plugins in the future, so tricks like simulating telephone audio will be able to be done without outboard. As long as it works without cooking the CPU beyond reality... Its all a bit inscrutable though, which I suspect is 'cos its a bit early. Took me several hours to work out how to play a track (it's in the docs, just the organization of the docs is as a reference manual, and there are almost no examples) and then it worked fine on the standalone version of the server, but not at all on the slightly earlier version of the server shipped with the bundle, which struck me as bizarre. But still, it's pretty exciting, as previously to do this sort of stuff I've had to cross swords with external digitally controlled mixers and media controllers, and despite getting the results, I didn't really enjoy the experience much. Doing it all in software from an interface that makes sense and a system that works every night seems quite an attractive proposition...
