andrew112
Hi,I am trying to find some headset cans to use in a theatre. I dont really want to pay more than £30 for some (this is probly a stupid price!) and I dont mind any make. They could be second hand or does anyone know where to get some. Thanks ;)
FullRange
Your choices are limited at £30.Stageline do some headsets which are around that price, but they are very hard to get hold of in the UK and you would need to change the connectors from the two jacks to something more useful. Model no. BH-006S. I once managed to get a set from Lancelyn Theatre Supplies, might have been a one off. ASL headsets are available for about £48 for a single sided one.Do you have any preference for double or single sided headsets? What connector do you need on them (like 4 pin XLR for Tecpro etc)?Even second hand you will have difficulty. The only ones that ever come up are Tecpro and Beyerdynamic DT108 or 109s, which will be more than £30 (they're worth more than that just for parts). For an idea of what is available new try: Showcomms.co.uk If you're still stuck on budget I have seen these rewired with 4 pin XLRs for use with Tecpro/Clearcom/Stonewood etc. comms for sale here. Nice and cheap if you can solder. Not the most robust, but might fit the purpose. Haven't used them myself though! [Edit: added links]
gareth
You're not going to get much for £30. Most people looking to buy their own set of cans are doing so because they spend a long time wearing them and want to make sure they've got some that won't become uncomfortable after a short period of wear - anything you can find for £30 isn't exactly going to be the epitome of comfort! Do you really use them that often that you need your own set? If you do, it's worth budgeting for a nicer set.
paulears
Moderation: I've been talking to the OP and it appears we've got crossed line here a bit - he's after a complete system, headsets and packs. So he's kind of sorted now - so I'm going to close this one. Paul
