Pete Alcock Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Dear all, I have a handheld VHF Trantec radio mic that sounds thin and quiet and need to get it apart to investigate further. Anybody know whether the bottom tubular metal part (with the electronics in and the switch and LED at the bottom) unscrews from the plastic battery compartment? I don't want to break it, and it'd be useful to know if it was a left hand thread, or superglued up at the factory or whetever. Any clues? Thanks, Pete.
Brian Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 I'm not going to try it on one of mine but you could try contacting Mike Lowe
Peter Russell Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 It depends which model you have. On the S5000's there is a small plastic peg underneath the 'Trantec S5000' sticker around the top of the barrel that will snap with a bit of force (I don't think you can remove it any other way :** laughs out loud **: ) the barrel should then slide free. You will need to order a replacement peg and sticker in order to get the barrel to stay on afterwards, or you could just use some PVC :** laughs out loud **: You say that the mic sounds thin, this would make me think that the problem may be with the capsule not the electronics... Try contacting Trantec's service department: service@trantec.co.uk HTH, Peter
