MP3 "Double Decks"

I don't know whether such a thing even exists, but ....

Does anyone know of a piece of software that allows the playback of mp3 files in the same manner as the old double-turntable disco consoles? (i.e. cue one up while another is playing, then crossfade between the two, but also with the possibility of playing one on top of the other)

A Sound Engineer / DJ friend of mine uses something called "Traktor DJ Studio" a piece of German software by Native Instruments to create his mixes. You can download a demo version (5.4 Mb) from their website. The full version costs €199.00, approximately £135 at today's exchange rate.

It's very good, featuring not just the ability to cross fade, but to line up beats as well. You can use it live, or save your mixes for burning onto CD (naughty naughty).

If you're feeling posh, there's this which is, I understand, very cool indeed.

My, that's a bit flash isn't it?!

Anyway, I've downloaded the demo versions of PCDJ and Traktor, so I just need to find a bit of time to fiddle about with them and work out how to drive them (there are an awful lot of buttons on the screen ...).

I have all 3 versions of PCDJ, Silver, Blue and Red. I got Silver free with a CD I bought a couple of years ago (Club mix 2002 if you are interested)

I have never got round to installing it before <clickety> <click> but now I have it looks like it has all the basic features

If all you want is the ability to run 2 mp3's at once and mix them then Silver would do that - and at less than £20 it shouldn't break the bank.

Thats about the best PC DJ software there is availeable. I used it at most of my home parties, and if I have to go somewhere and I can't DJ you can hit AUTOPLAY and it mixes the songs itself...
