Ben Lawrance
Hi all, We all hate the price of 15amp Plugs & Sockets (well not the plugs from TLC but thats differant) I know that if you have trade accounts with people they get a bit cheaper, but for the regualr Joe Bloggs like myself, they are quite pricey. Where is the best supplier, at the best price that you lot have found. Ebay doesn't count!! RgdsBen

Anyway, Farnell sell MK Duraplug 15A plugs & trailing sockets for £3.14 / £5.20 each, ex VAT (£3.04 / £4.54 for 10+) Farnell For comparison RS sell them for £3.07 / £5.41 each. Brian
CPC are part of the Premier Farnell Group. They sell some of the same items as Farnell but cheaper (although the goods may take a few days to get to you). In general they are run as two seperate companies. Oh and the CPC website is useless. Often beats their next day service. I use them a lot in preference to RS on cost (in most cases) and such a range of odd things.
peternewman
Hi all, Just to let you know for 16a CEE Forms, not black, just normal ones, the cheapest place I have found is Screwfix £1.35 for the plugs and £1.99 for the couplers, with discounts for five or more of each. Screwfix CEE Forms PN
TomLyall
I second that, the screwfix ones [CEE Forms] really are the cheapest ive found, they're the lewden titan quickwire range which in my opinion are much easier to wire than any others I have found. peternewman
Another thread hijack, where is the cheapest place for 32a Ceeforms, I thought Screwfix used to sell them but they seem to have stopped. Best price I have so far is from TLC Direct at £6.95 each. Anyone know of a better deal than that? Ideally fast responses please as I would like to get on with ordering them as I need them for a job to save hiring. TIA PN

TomLyall
if you look on ebay, you can get second hand (yeah I know...) duraplugs, for £2.30/3.20, you have to buy ten at a time but thats what they work out as, each, inclusive of delivery. although im tempted to use CEE forms instead as these would be cheaper, although they're not quite as standard,
Ike
although im tempted to use CEE forms instead as these would be cheaper, although they're not quite as standard,For theatre use I wouldnt even think about it. All my kit has CEE forms on however this is due to it being used almost exclusivly for outdoors events and rock n roll.
thedj
So we have decided to go along the lines of 15A for dimmed lighting and 16A for hot power. However one of the venues that is being redone has 2 IWB (internal wired bars) of about 20’ in length and around 14 5A sockets on each. Plus there are a number of surface mount 5A socket points around the stage and house. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get new 15A socket fronts to replace the 5A ones? The current cost is over £6 each and when we need like 50 of them that is quite a few quid in socket fronts. Failing that where is good for some new IWBs complete? Cheers ed
Neil Frazer
I'm sure someone will expand on this but let me start it off. If you are swapping 5A sockets for 15A sockets is the cable infrastructure rated to take 15A. if not you've got problems.
