Guest
how do you control Flexi-Flash?I have looked on the Pulsar website and only found there is a controler designed to control it.can you plug it straight in to the wall?does it run on DMX?all comments welcome :) thanks
Guest joewhite903
Looked on there website, you have to run it of there controller, As far as I remember these units run of 350vDC and have a single pin to trigger the 4 channels. so no you cant just plug it into the mains, however if these units are wired in the same way as arcline then you can easly get a smaller controller. Jamtastic3
Adding on from what Joe has already said, the Flexiflash connects to the controller via a 'speakon' like connector (can't remember the proper name at the moment, it's been brought up on BR before). The unit powers the tubing and it has 3 'zones' for which you connect 3 sets of seperate Flexi-Flash. Then you have control effects on it such as direction and speed. We have one in our venue and it's uber cool, if a little retro now.

peternewman
Unfortunately Zoninio isn't correct, its a Cliffcon, the red variety to be precise.
zonino
Damn, Peter is of course right. In my defense the last time I used rigiflash was about 3 years ago...
knotted
the flexi flash I had the misfortune to work with used IEC to plug into the controller. and if I recall correctly you had to insert a header length of cable between the controller and the flex. Guest joewhite903
Warning do not be tempted to plug the IEC type strobe tubes directly into the mains. A club near to my work Called Diamond dolls. Bought about 20 off the Arc line type installed and wired them all up and plugged them directly into the mains and has pretty much blown every one, because they work at 650vDC they have dc power caps for the strobes rather than Ac so every strobe head has its capacitor guts blown all over the casing. One thing I’m trying to build is a strobe tube tester ideally hand held for just quick testing and not long runs. But I’m having trouble trying to find out the exact spec output I need to make the tubes fire I know the pin out but I need exact voltage and trigger line voltage etc. Ta Joe
