palbin
Hello! I have cirka 550 kg stuff in two piles of Thon racks (from Thomann) - with a "10 HE Rack 50 Rollen" and a "12 HE Rack 50 Rollen" in the bottom of each pile. (I have a lot of the Thomann Proline 3000 amps which are very heavy and make up for half of that weight.) Could this be to much weight for the racks or the wheels? (They seem to manage fine so far just standing still!) Best, palbin
Rob_Beech
There is no reason they shouldn't cope with this. The professional range are from experience some of the best made flightcases out there. Their cheaper ones are just that, I wouldn't expect their ECO ones at about £50 for an 8u case to stand up to years of touring (although I do have a bunch of smaller ones that are still going strong) but the "proffi" or however they word it ones are IMO better than most. palbin
Hello! It's their best "Profi" racks I have throughout! Thanks for the advice! Best, palbin
Simon Lewis
Good castors - such as Guitel blue wheel 100mm - have a safe running load of 350kg per set of four. Your cases should handle this when the lids are latched on and the equipment is screwed in properly. However, I've had parts fall off heavy cases when they've been mishandled. The way you treat them may have as much influence as the case design itself!
cedd
Consider what happens if you do (god forbid!) knock a rack over when rolling it around. I've always gone for more smaller racks, A - because when met by a stairase get-in it's not such a back-breaker B - Because if you screw up and the rack ends up on its side, either in a van or on a door lip, it takes less people to lift back up and has less weight to crush/damage people and equipment within the rack. 2p
palbin
Thanks for the advice! As for rack height I guess there is the saving of horizontal space and possible earned "cable compactness" that speaks for building high, but I certainly see the mentioned points with smaller units. Anyway, I have the really heavy stuff (power amps) in the bottom (obviously, I guess) and that stuff doesn't reach much over 1 meter height, so the "balance" of my two piles (thinking of the tipping them over issue) should be completely satisfactory, I estimate.
