palbin
hello! I wonder, given that one place the subbass cabinets (ProBox 218 in my case) suitably, could one put a few tweeters (JBL 2447) with horns (JBL 2352) and mids (JBL 2227) into them in order to save space (avoing more top cabinets)? (guess answer is no, just wanted to learn why!) also, the JBL 2352 horns I come over are awfully big, could one cut away a little on the sides of them to make them more reasonably sized, or would that waste them? best, palbin
mal421
If you put mid units in the same box as bass units they must be in a separate compartment otherwise the bass will affect the mid . The generally accepted norm is to get the horns ( Hi range drivers ) slightly above head height . Human bodies are very good at attenuating high frequencies so by placing them up high you have a fighting chance of projecting the hi frequencies to the back of the room . However your subs will perform better on the floor ( look up 'half space' and 'quarter space' ) . You can see we have two conflicting requirements hence top boxes are generally separate units and mounted above the subs .
