cfmonk
Hi everyone, Just a quick thing I need a hand with ASAP. I have been asked to bring my PA along to a training weekend to play a bit of music and reinforce a couple of voices, happy to help out so have my tops and amps with me. Was told not to bother with the mixing desk as they already "had one". All fine, I like saving on petrol and wear & tear etc. Turns out the "mixer" is an old DJ mixer with two channels and an input for a microphone. Nothing wrong with that per-se but the output is two Phono connectors. Predictably I don't have any phono to jack / XLR connectors with me but I do have some jack to jack patch cables which will fit into the headphone out socket on the "mixer". Could I conceiveably connect the headphone out into my amp and then run the amp in mono? The only problem I can see is the headphone out is stero (I assume) and the amp inputs are mono as are my patch cables. I know this is less than ideal but I don't want to let people down. Thanks, Chris
mi-ul
Yes this will work - Probably best using the mono cables you have otherwise stereo -> balanced could cause problems. Mi-ul
Shez
Just bear in mind that by using a mono cable, you'll be shorting out the right channel of the headphone feed.
