casper
Hi all, I wonder if you can help me. I have been asked to design a lighting rig for my church and provide a quote. One of the things they want is the lighting bars to be black so they fit in with all the other fixings. Obviously the lights and clamps come in black but I can't find bars or fixings to the wall. If you know of anywhere that I can get 2m bars in black (47mm), 300mm and 100mm Pipe to wall brackets in black and boom arms in black then I would be very grateful. Or is another option to buy aluminium and spray? Cheers
dunk_1984
I see no reason why you can't paint them yourself, you are doing nothing structural to the bars or brackets.
GridGirl
Paint them yourselves! Etch-prime or something similar is what you want as it'll mean the paint doesn't get scratched off the with hook-clamps and other fixings.
andy_s
black etch paint is particularly noxious and should only be applied in extremely well ventilated spaces. if you want it done for you, look for metal fabricators in your area - they should be able to paint the metal whatever colour you like. Most scenic construction companies if they have a metalworking shop could do this for you as well. Powder coating is a fairly hardwearing finish. handyandi
VDC will make up bars in black & Flints stock black alluminium tube. Hope this is useful. Andi
jakefraser
Andolite also do a range of finishes on their IWBs, including black which is what was installed in one of our drama rooms at school. Power-epoxy rather than enamel spray. Only thing I would say is depending on how much you tighten the bolts, the finish does get worn away where the bolt has been tightened against the bar. Worth a look maybe? Jake
