Sirch Sound
Hi, I have a bit of a dilema. I need to test a few lav mics however I have no acess to wireless systems in time to test them. So I ask the question, is there a simple way of performing a test using a desk? I have some countryman b3's and some Sennheiser ME2's to test. I carnt seem to get it to work on the desk even with the 48v Phantom power turned on, as the countryman mics apparently need. Ideas? Shez
I carnt seem to get it to work on the desk even with the 48v Phantom power turned on They may never work again if you've sent 48v through them! They generally only need a couple of volts as that's all the transmitter packs can supply... If you download the full manual for the mics, there's usually a diagram of exactly how they should be wired up and what voltage is needed where. I've certainly seen them for Sennheiser mics but I would hope Countryman would also offer up similar info. It shouldn't be too hard to knock up a test jig for them with that info. Sirch Sound
A small quote from the countrymsn website, Low distortion at SPL up to 150dB on 48V Phantom Power However I was not sure about the sennheisers so I played it safe and left them out. If you'd read the datasheet like I suggested, you'd have seen that your quote applies to those mics when hard-wired (i.e. with an XLR) not when they're used with a wireless beltpack. Another quote for you:Power Requirements: 3 to 12 V @ 200 µA
