boatman
As someone who worked in broadcast television for nearly 40 years, I will second Bobbsy's recommendation for Ravensbourne. I have worked with several graduates and never had a problem. There are some on-line foundation courses on the BBC Training School website, that might be worth looking at if you manage to get an interview at Ravensbourne. Another alternative would be to look for a post in one of the many broadcast support companies around the country. Google for "TV facilities" and you'll find lots of good stuff. Ken Coker
I know this seems obvious, but if you want to work in TV why not do a TV course?Ravensbourne would seem the obvious place to go....... With reference to the OP, have I missed something about "graduating". If you are going to graduate this year - that is, leave university with a first degree - then you might want to look at post graduate courses. We do not, as I understand it. "graduate" from school in this country......sorry to be picky, but I think "undergraduate" has a specific and useful meaning. KC
Big Jay
Thanks Ken, Just to clarify, when I say graduating, I mean completing a BTEC National Diploma in Stage Management and Tech Production and the course I have applied for at CENTRAL is a BA Hons in Theatre Practice. Big Jay
Sorry If I have confused you all, its just the way I have always put it. So now I stand corrected, once again, sorry.
paulears
Toshiboy - I'd be very careful putting on your CV BTEC National Diploma in Stage Management and Tech Production Your piece of paper from Edexcel will NOT say this. It will say one of these:Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Costume)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Makeup)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Set Construction)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Stage Design)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Stage Management)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Theatre Technology)Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Arts Management) It can be a bit different if you started in September 2007, rather than before - but these are the only titles that could appear on your completion certificate. Andrew C
There is something very fundamental to consider it you want to go into TV; have you ever been tested for colour vision abnormality? 1:10 men suffer a red/green issue which could really scupper a TV vision career (not so much theatre though) Been there... <_<
