michael6388
I am overhauling our quartets, and a couple seem to have faulty lamp holders, although the fault may lie in the cable to the lamp. I can't see how to get to the connector between the supply lead, and the flying leads to the lampholder to see where the fault lies. Can anyone help? I also have a couple of lanterns where the lamp focus screw has partially seized - they will give a couple of turns, but not tighten up. If I apply WD40, I can eventually work them free, clean up the threads and apply coppaslip before replacing. Is this a regular fault, or am I just unlucky? Thanks for any help/advice you can give. sparkyweb
Another quality strand design here. Open the lantern slightly. At the top where the unit hinges open, you will need to gently prise apart the "ears" away from the sticky-out bits. (The crude hinge arrangement)The lantern will then be in half. As I say gently as you do need to open it quite a bit, and being a casting I have seen these break off before. I would also check the cable where it goes into the lantern, as I have seen them go intermittant and smoke/arc at the point of entry in the past. It went off too soon1I see what you mean about the 'quality' design. I was gentle, and it was indeed a break in the cable at the pointof entry. Thanks againMichael
