cfmjohn
Hi All, I have just bought a new novation nio USB soundcard. Sounds great apart from one thing. It seems to make a constant crackling noise & varying high pitched beeping tones through the audio out. Its only really noticable when the amp it feeds is turned up very loud but its still very annoying. Does anyone know any cures to this problem because its a great wee soundcard, I just cant use it if its noisy. I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact its being run from a USB bus and being affected by the PSU of the PC but its not got an external power input so I cant isolate it from the PC to check. Any ideas on fixing this would be great John
david.elsbury
Is this a laptop or desktop? If laptop, have you tried unplugging the PSU and seeing if the noise goes away?It may just be the way it is...

david.elsbury
IIRC my dad had a similar problem, turned out to be IRQ related. Can you change the IRQ of soundcard at all?
cfmjohn
This is going to sound daft but...I cant remember how to get to the IRQ's in WinXP (If you still can) It used to be in Device Manager>Properties and it was there. Hmmm wierd. If im looking in the wrong place let me know :D
