johnniebravo
I was wondering if any of you know is it better to project onto a naked body or onto a white surface? My final aim will be to project onto the body though I am considering to paint the body white to make this possible? Good? Bad? Thanks,Johnnie
mac.calder
White lycra body suits are probably the best surface you can put on a human body to project onto. They are form fitting, and they make a really nice surface to project onto.
Bryson
Well, it somewhat depends upon how attractive the dancer is, surely? ;) Joking aside, I've seen it done sucessfully onto bare flesh, so the only real limiting factor is the artistic impression, rather than any practical consideration. It also depends on how important the detail in the image is, as well as ambient light levels. The problem will be projection onto a curved surface and the distortion that produces. If detail is important, then you'll have to work closely with the director/choreographer to ensure that the body is correctly placed at the crucial moments. bruce
Possibly of some relevance - but you'd need to paint over the logo
discosi
Look up a theatre / multimedia dance company called Troika Ranch from New York. They performed a great piece using cameras, projections (on bodies). I believe they used a piece of software called Issadora (could be z's rather than s's - not sure) which was written by one of the touring tech guys. The performers found their marks in the dark by raised 'Gaffa' marks on the dance floor and then between the software, camera and projectors they could project effected images of themselves from the camera back onto themselves (full-scale) on the stage creating some amazing effects. All the performers looked quite androgynous, male, white trousers, naked torso and short peroxide blonde hair. It looked amazing!!!
propsman
I was once told by some one the best colour to project on was a very pale pink! So what colour is the body your projecting on ? hope the living screen does not go away on holiday just before the show.
