where to buy pro multicore

I am looking to buy a new multi

can anyone advise me of a company that makes them up on hartings

I need 2x 50 mtr 32 or 40 with 8 returns this would be I guess on 108 pole hartings

the reason for 2 x 50 is that we do some small shows and the stuff is heavy so it would be good to join 2 together for long runs

I would rather carry 2 small drums than one large

I would need tails from foh desk and also a set to come out of my crest x monitor desk

I have seen that thomman do them in the pro snake range the only thing is I cant seem to find a harting coupler to join them together

any ideas?

cheers in advance

The last few multis I bought were from AC Lighting who will actually sell you Kelsey-made cables (but, weirdly, I could get them cheaper through AC). Kelsey will certainly make up cables to your spec, including with Hartings.

As mentioned, best bets (if you don't know a good reliable wireman yourself) would be Kelsey Accoustics or VDC.

Are you using Harting because this is an install or because you have existing Harting based infrastructure? If it for touring I'd consider looking at a VEAM type connector. More rugged constructions and more likely tou can cross rent stuff to plug into it. Just a thought its your money and am sure you know your business better than the rest of us.

Have fun

Hi

Thanks for your help so far.

I have spoken to AC Lighting and they look like a good option. The guy I spoke to was based in Leeds and that’s just down the road from me.

The package I am looking for is to be used on theatre tours with bands and for a handful of small festivals

I have used Harting in the past and found them be sturdy that was my only reason for suggesting I use them.

As this would be a whole new system then moving onto VEAM would not be a problem… having looked around the forum it seems no one can agree on which multi pin is the best to use.

If you spoke to VDC, they would steer you in the direction of circular connectors. The bayonet connection doesn't have the 'locking ears' that the Hartings use (which can get bent or squashed). Also, the circular connector can often be pulled along the ground with less 'snags' than the bulkier, oblong Harting.

Right in both cases, plus I have found the insert more durable and easier to repair. One would expect there to be some reason that the majority of the larger rental companies use round connectors of one kind or another.

I don't mind Hartings (or, indeed, EDACs) for semi permanent installs where they're only disconnected and moved occasionally. However, count me as another one recommending a round "mil type" connector for heavy duty tour use.

Besides all the advantages mentioned so far, they're also much smaller and much easier to pull through a duct when you get stuck having to do that...and you WILL encounter ducts in some venues!

FYI, AC/Kelsey also do round connectors, both one of their own (compatible with Pyle E-line) and also Litton Veam.
