Tom Baldwin
Does anybody know of somewhere that still hires the old LT caterpillars? Or might even have some for sale going cheap?
Potassium Neuf
Are those the funny little fixtures that have 'nod' and 'wiggle' as two of their parameters ? I think I remember seeing them at PLASA several years ago Found this on Google ... Is $150 cheap ? CATERPILLAR
Ike
The Caterpillar is a versatile moving light that is both practical and fun to use. It has both DMX512 and analogue 0-10V inputs allowing it to be controlled from a variety of lighting desks. With it's lively wiggling motins the Caterpillar takes on a life of it's own to prodluce an animated moving light show that is ideal for pubs, clubs, theme parks or stage shows. They really are a great idea, I have unfortunately never seen them used other than for the occasional demonstration/crew entertainment.
andystone
They were very cute, I used to work for LT when they made them. Originally designed by Wynne Willson Gottelier and they sold the design to LT who then manufactured them. Sorry, no idea where you might be able to hire them now, that was a long time ago! Rowan
Try Whitelight, they quite often have some of the more obscure lights that they got in specifically for a production. Otherwise Neg-Earth might have them. Edit: Sorry, just looked at the url for the post above, I'll get my coat
Tom Baldwin
Thank you all for the pointers - I'd completely missed them in the WL catalogue - probably the "Scanners and Helicopters" heading that put me off! They are great fun, and do seem to have a personality of their own compared to most movers, which just aim themselves where requested.
Tomo
Aww, those things are cute. Shame I can't think of a reason to hire a couple for the show I'm designing now.(Doesn't quite fit in Guys and Dolls somehow)
