Hi all

I am teaching Technical theatre at the moment and require Scale drawings and tech Specs of the Victoria Palace Theatre in London to use as a base for a project that I wish to set. Can anyone help me out?

Have you tried Modelbox? They sell plans for theatres, and the Victoria might be one they have in stock.

Google the URL, I've forgotten it!

Your best bet for tech specs (and possibly drawings) is the technical department of the theatre itself - just call the stage door and ask to speak to either the master carpenter or the chief electrician.

Another possible source for scale drawings would be Modelbox. Steve Wentworth is the man there. They normally charge for plots of their drawings, but if you can convince him that it's just for educational use he might just bend the rules a bit ...

However as Gareth says, I am sure the easiest (and cheapest) way to get hold of the plans is from the Chief LX or RSM's normally have a copy taht they will photocopy for potential clients.

Modelbox is part of the White Light Group - the plans that you can buy online at White Light's LX Store site are prints of the Modelbox files. But like I say, if you speak very nicely to Steve and you can convince him that you want the plan solely for educational purposes rather than commercial ones, you might be able to talk him into letting you have a print on the cheap ...

thanks guys, I sent a text to the chief lx but he hasnt got back to me as yet.

With respect, do you think it might be better to actually speak to him in person? Assuming that you don't know him personally, I think it would be a much better way to approach him (especially as it's to ask him to do you a favour), rather than just sending a text. Of course, you might already know him and have spoken with him in the past, in which case ignore me!

Ahh, right I didn't realise that,

PS- IMHO I always find Texting such a horrible way of communicating unless its a quick 'c u @ 8' joby. I would also ring him

yes, I know him, was just texting as I its a sunday and I dont like to disturb people with work related things too much. I'm taking my students around the theatre in a couple of weeks time but I need the specs before that. which is why I have this problem. Anyway thanks for the advice, I'll call model box tomorrow.
