Trunker
Hi, I am after a 'warm' sounding condensor microphone (pencil mic type) for recording to use with my pair of AKG c414's in a sort of 'decca tree' format. Any suggestions? Price guide £100 - £300 Cheers
Rob_Beech
If you can find a used KM185 you won't go far wrong, that should just about come within budget, a new one wouldn't. What is the application? recording what?

mervaka
I've had good experiences with the SE electronics SE3s, they seem very good all-rounders!
Bobbsy
Another endorsement from me for the SE3A. They're available in a matched stereo pair for about £350 including a case and stereo shock mount. You don't say if that budget is total or per mic so if the SE3 is a bit rich for you, the SE1A is also available in a stereo pair for a bit under £200 and is still a good all round mic. Bob Well I am only after 1 mic because I have my stereo mics in my AKG 414's. So up to £300 for 1 mic I guess. To be used as more of an 'in-fill' mic more than any thing I guess to cover the middle area where the 414's may not pick up and not to leave a 'hole' in the middle of the band I am recording.
