Jem Techohaze

Ello BR,

The hazer I use in the venue I work in seems to be going crazy on me. It's a Jem Technohaze and when it's switched on and heated, the haze can be controlled normally via the controller for around 20 odd minutes. Thereafter, it either stops hazing for a while or/and then hazes constantly on full output! Not even the controller unplugged will turn the damn thing off.

Any ideas to the problems?

Couple of things to note:

LED for the 'liquid out' doesn't seem to light when fluid is low.

When the remote is detatched from the unit, the machine should be 'disabled' (eg no hazing)

Cheers for any help guys and gals!

May not be of help, but our Jem 24/7 hazer goes into local mode when it loses a DMX signal...

Does the techno have a local control?

The control board by the XLR is damp or has some fluid on it! I used to get this all the time with mine when not used for a while or stored in the cold. take the back of the unit and clean the board or a quick fix is the stick a heater pointing at it for a bit.

The fluid out system is quite crap on these machines. if it starts showing fluid out when its full thats when your in trouble! If so take the connector of the little control board and put a little solder link in. If it never shows fluid out someone might have already done this!

hope this helps

DO NOT solder across the pins. There is a varible pot on the control board that has to be reset and a point on the board where you put your multimeter. If you phone up jem technical they can give u the exact reading. As for the unwanted smoke, Clean the main PCB board with isaprol alchol, Im sorry bout my spelling, I Have plenty off information for all sorts but my writing is crap Joe

Joe, hi.

Whilst I believe that you've posted some useful info on this topic, and I THINK I know what you're saying, the lack of proper spelling, grammar and punctuation in places makes your post rather difficult to decipher...

Please, please, PLEASE write coherently, as it makes reading the BR so much easier.

Thanks

TD

Hi Joe

I know what you saying RE the pot on the board but that is for the pump and as you rightly say you must set to a value on the meter however the only way I know to bypass the fluid out sensor as the unit might require is to solder across the connector that the fluid out unit conects to taking it out of the system. If there is another way then please let me know cos I have two of these and the fluid out system has always been problematic

Hi there, There are two pots on the board in different places one off which is the 13.5mv from the theremocoupler the other is right beside the point where the level sensor plugs into, it should be a blue trim pot ,I will give jem a phone and find out what the voltage should be, But as I was saying there are two we metal loops that stick off the board which is where you clip your meter probes too, what I would recomend you do is take the cover off your hazer switch it on and when the low fluid light comes on with fluid in the tank turn the pot quarter turns I think clockwise untill the light goes out then run and if it does it again repeat the process until you have no more problems
