richardc1983 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Is there a better brighter bulb out there that is a replacement for the ELC 24v 250w? Wanting one that willl have higher colour temp. Also do the longer life lamps have lower light output? Seen some on ebay for £15 x 5 and they last 500 hours. www.ebay.co.uk item number 160168134729 What you reckon?
Jivemaster Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Sadly it's a fact of tungsten halogen lamps that colour temp is proportional to light output BUT inversely proportional to life. So as colour temp goes up so does light out and life goes down severely. There are discharge lamps that can be fitted with the correct accessories into some lanterns but that changes an ELC at £5 into something special at £75+ though you may never change it for the life is ca. 1000 hours not 50!
Chris Beesley Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Philips offer lamps with 500 hour and 1000 hour life's ... I am not aware of any replacement's offering higher colour temp.
richardc1983 Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 AH ok well ive just sent one of the discharge versions back as it was giving a different light out put to the other one I had. Which was really distracting actually! And they didnt seem to be able to offer explanation or seem to be able to fix it.
