Patching DMX Channels

Thanks for all the advise, I've been off for the weekend and just got a chance to get back to my question. I Just installed a new Strand 48/96 preset palatte in our theatre about 2 weeks ago and am still learning the console. It has 2 DMX outputs and I am sending one to our dimmers. We have 240 2k Strand dimmers in the theatre and I am sending the other DMX line to the stage to run 8 studio colors and 12 studio wash units plus a hazer and a fogger. I hope this will help explain the equipment we have installed.

Right. How many dimming channels do you have/require. And how many DMX channels do the other equipment use per unit? Work this out and it may make it easier to explain how to patch everything up.

We have 240 2k Strand dimmers ... 8 studio colors and 12 studio wash units plus a hazer and a fogger.

So, 240 dimming channels on Stream A and (128 (8 x 16) + 288 (12 x 24) =) 416 channels on Stream B.

 

Pretty simple really... start the first Studio Color at DMX 001, the next at DMX 017, etc, until you reach the Studio Spots, when the increment becomes 24...
