LightSaber Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'm looking for advice for simulating electric sparks coming from multiple wall sconces. I have and know how to use my lunatech pyropak system and the flashpots with it, but for this effect I'm looking for something different. A small effect of shooting sparks. Any suggestions? Thanks!Karen ElbBarter TheatreAbingdon, VA USA
Maddison Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 robotics would be my first choiceAs is said above, Robotics are a good to simulation of an electrical fault. Otherwise you could try these airbursts. They are new and I have never used them, but as with all Le Maitre products, they are supposed to look very good. Depends what look you are going for really... Edit - Link fixed

Gareth A Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Agree with the robotics. we use them on the Beauty tour for the inventon. They look really good.
Liquid Nik Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I'd go with the Robotics. The LeMaitre airbursts are a bit big for what you are looking for. I tried one out for an effect in our panto last year. A truly impressive bang and shower of sparks but probably best used in an arena sized venue. They have to be in clear air so can't be used against any scenery. Hope this helps.
timtheenchanteruk Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 use robotics, they are designed to simulate electrical fault, If you need more than one box anyway, get different sizes for a more realistic efect
itinerant baker Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Now I'm sure this goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway. Robitics are very sparky as that is the nature of the effect, and these sparks may be harder to control than other types of pyro. I've used robos on tv sets, I'm not sure I'd be happy using them on a stage with audience members close by - at least, not without making VERY sure they where pointing to safe areas.
martin stewart Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Try robotics, used them for an effect of blowing a tv up..worked a treat
Just Some Bloke Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Moderation: In order to keep the number of people all saying the same thing in single figures I'm going to close this thread. If anyone has anything new to add please PM a moderator and we'll gladly re-open it, but there is a limitted number of times people can say "use robotics" without it getting boring. :)
