Djbarryblue Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 anyone know if you get stage barbed wire, plastic or something and if so where from ?
Ike Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I dont know where from but you can get it. The main wire is usualy plastic and it has rubbery barbs.
James C Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 The only time I've come across it was at Gwent Theatre - Steel wire with rubber barbs (even knowing it was fake, you flinched when you picked it up). This was a good while back, but you could call them on 01873 853167 and see if they'll part with it, or if they know where it came from. HTH
Jivemaster Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Big coils of fence wire with cut up rubber bands for the barbs and spray with silver paint.
Rob Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 We had some on a show last week, I'll see if I can find out where it came from.
erroneousblack Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 We have quite a lot of it, but it's been around a lot longer than I've been here. Saying that I'm sure if you do some web searches of prop makers and producing houses someone should be able to help you. As an aside we put ours in a general storage cupboard along with office archive material. When some office staff went to get something they saw it and promptly went off to get big padded gloves to move it!

EmFrog Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I know this is an old thread but we used some of this wire recently. Got it localy in Dorset. I think it was £19.99 for 30 meters and it deos look very real but made of plastic. So if any one wants any in the future email me and I will give you the contact details
Suzette Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Flints sell plastic barbed wire ... EmFrog maybe you ought give the details of your Dorset contact to the Flints buyer ... you paid £20 for 30mtrs.... Flints are selling 30mtrs for £112 !!! I know they need a bit of a mark-up but £92 is a bit steep!
Superbadger Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Not sure how useful this would be as it is time-consuming and may not be up to what you want but this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/art/activities/m...arbedwire.shtml Certainly looks very realistic and is very cheap. Personally I would recomend using a 'rubber glue' that is more flexible so it will bend but will remain stiff like wire. I did make some as part of a school project once which I made from wire and paper clips - but this was almost as sharp so I really would not recomend it.
