Brian Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Can anyone recommend a DMX strobe? Budget is a maximum of £200, I've found the Giga strobe that Terralec have but there must be others?
Jon T Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 hmmmmm.....I have herd bad stuff about terralec.
Chris Rolt Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 EVL make a 1500w DMX strobe, around £150 I think Chris
nickb12345 Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 What is bad about Terralec - we purchased nearly all of our light and sound rig from there and have never ever had a problem. speaking of which we got a couple of T-Bars in today and one of them had a bolt which had sheered in transport. One quick phone call to them - "no problem, we will get a new one in the post right away"!!! As for the strobe I think Coemar make one - no idea what it is called or anything but it uses 2 DMX channels - one for intensity and one for flash rate. Nick
ianl Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 martin atomic strobe is excellent if you can stretch the money (about £400 list)
misterbassman Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 I have a 1500 watt ACME DMX strobe paid £120 for it, it has been excellent so far
Angelic Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 IIRC I picked up my Atomic for around £330 new.
vinny baby Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 yeah I paid around that for my Atomic I also have a 1500w Strobe manufactured by PSL (programmi systemi luce- italy)I paid £170 for it. It has 3 DMX channels 1 FPS (flash rate)2 Dimmer3 Sound activation dont know why a strobe would need sound 2 light, but it actully creates a good effect. And again im a regular Terralec user, and ive never had a problem how about this for summot out of the ordinary. (bit pricey though, sure its cheaper over here. Strobe 1 vince also look here under strobes, some great offers looky looky
P. Funk Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 yeah.. thats like the atomic colour... but 1/3 of the price and less colours...
Brian Posted February 5, 2004 Author Posted February 5, 2004 Thanks for the pointers guys, I rather fancy the Diversitronics 3kW one that AC have but it needs a 32A feed
vinny baby Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 I have the Martin Atomic, (3000w 3k) and I can just about run it off a normal 13amp socket, but it has to be on its own ring, with nothing else on it. but yeah usally they need a big feed vince the Diversitronics is a kick ass strobe, ive used them loads of times
nickb12345 Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 WTF - 32A!!! The Coemar one we used was running off a 13A along with 4 other moving heads and was on the same breaker curcuit as all the other equipment (about 10 other moving heads and hazers and other stuff) Nick
misterbassman Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 I would say if you got that strobe from AC it would happily run on a 16 amp connector. 32 amps can supply about 7,500 watts! much more than you need.
vinny baby Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 WTF - 32A!!! The Coemar one we used was running off a 13A along with 4 other moving heads and was on the same breaker curcuit as all the other equipment (about 10 other moving heads and hazers and other stuff) Nick Too me that just sound wrong!!
