where to learn

I help out at a local community theatre more often than not with the lights, sometimes this requires scaff bars adding and moving position, though I am blessed with common sense I would like the confidence more formal training gives. As this is a hobby of mine I don't have much budget or time during the week, any suggestions on how/where I could learn.

Various lighting hire companies run short rigging courses. try stage electrics, they run a variety of training courses in a wide range of technical disciplines, some of which you may find interesting.
