MatSpencer Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Hey, Just wondered really what other people and other users thought about using a Monitor with the Strand 200? Is it worth the trouble? What extra details can you see on the monitor? Also, Not having a monitor, is it a specially designed monitor for Strand Desks? Look Forward To Hearing What You Think! Mat
Trunker Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 You can use any monitor with the strand desks as long as it has the right fitting on the back (most monitors should fit). It is not nessecary to use the monitor, but is useful. If you are looking to 'soft-patch' the dimmers or make alterations to other varios things that the board can do I would use the monitor. If you are just looking to record cues and then play them back there is no real need for it, but there again it is down to the individual. I use it because I find it can be useful. What are you looking to do with the board?
MatSpencer Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 What are you looking to do with the board? Nothing too special, but in the past I have got VERY confused with Effects Pages and Sub Pages and what not. At the moment we do not have a graphics card...Can we still get them? if so where from and how much? Thanks
Trunker Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 You may find you can get a graphics card from a specialist shop that deals with cameras and/or Computers. I think the memory on the graphics card has to be small, so your changes of finding one now are fairly slim as the resolution has improved dramatically on them since the Strand 200 has come out. If you are having difficulty in understanding the FX pages etc. running a monitor will visually help. Look at the monitor while you are for example programming a chase and see what happens on the screen. It does help, as it helped me when I first used a Strand board.

Richard Bunting Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Sorry Mat, that was from Strand's last published price list. it would worth sending a mail to Ken Berreen at Strand (ken.berreen@strandlighing.com) who is the UK sales manager HTH Richard
