Chris Lowe Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Right then me laddos and laddess's, I work at the Cliffs Pavilion and Palace Theatre in Westcliff, Essex. At the Cliffs there is a rising microphone that is situated on a sub-stage level and, when activated, rises through the stage. Now I know this is a stab in the dark but does anyone have any information on these type of systems as I want to get this one working (it hasnt been used in about 30 odd years)! I would be so grateful as this is a project I want to get working quite soon. All the mechanical elements of it seem to work when activated manually and havent rusted together yet but I cant get the motor to work at the minute as I do not have a power source for it and the gear ratio of the motor wont allow me to turn it manually.
paulears Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 We still have one that is covered over, but is still functional apart from the chain drive - It would need a bit of work to get at it, it's hidden behind a panel in the band room - but could have a go next week maybe. What do you need, pictures? If by luck, it's the same brand, I'd be happy to borrow a few bits for you.

Thats bizarre, I would never have thought anyone else would have one! pictures would be great if thats at all possible. Im working tomorrow so ill have a look at the make and model number etc and then Ill get bk to you regarding if id need pictures or not. Luckily I can get to mine very easily which is very handy, but if we get it working ive been told that we would have to cage it in so that no fingers get ripped off! heh. I think our chain drive still works which is a blessing as I wouldnt be able to get the bugger working at all if it werent as the mechanism goes through a small hole in the floor which is about 4 foot deep concrete! on the "borrowing bits" aspect, thats very kind of you, hopefully I wont need to thou as it sounds like it could create a lot of work for you! Btw, just looked at the website you have a link for, is the picture from a panto? Cos I used that same set for a Qdos production of Snow White last year. I remember the skeleton cages and couldron were exactly the same!
