Ken Coker Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 For what it's worth: The Pearl is profoundly more intuitive to use than an MA - at least for old blokes like me.A Pearl is very robust indeedThe back up and service from Avolites has always been, in my view, top classBetter t-shirts.....do you really want a t-shirt that says "GrandMa?" KC (The last point is a joke, and I'm sure that the service and support from MA is equally as good as that from Avolites.)
Tomo Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 The other option at that budget would be a Congo Jr with wing. As always - this is a desk YOU will be using. It doesn't matter that I think a Congo is best, or that Ken thinks a Pearl is best, or that Smeggie likes a GrandMA. What matters is that you are comfortable with the console. Call your dealer, and arrange some demonstrations of the consoles mentioned here. They'll be happy to arrange something - I know we are often doing demos and training, and I'm sure Avolites and MA Lighting do the same.
niclights Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Better t-shirts.....do you really want a t-shirt that says "GrandMa?" <_< :) Hmmm.... where is my shirt?
Jonny DMX Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 <_< I hear that MA Lighting do GrandMA pants! as in pants that say GrandMA not Granny pants!! ** laughs out loud ** Think of the pulling power of those bad boys!! Oh yes! how long before we get an 'off topic' thingy? p.s My vote would be for the Pearl/Pearl expert if you can afford it, great easy to use desk that most LDs know how to use
Bryson Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Now? Yes, now. Back on topic, or there will be a public flogging.<_< Tomo is right - the best thing to do is demo the desks. If possible, demo them without the salesman there as well - ie: borrow them for a week.
smeggie Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Too true. Avo were very happy for us to take a pearl away for a fortnight to give it a good testing and so were MA - as it happens we went with the pearl thanks to it being better for incoming bands to operate and we got a deal on it with a few extra dimmers to boot - Call them and have a good long play. Have fun AC
mog Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Ha ha! Cheers for your advice guys, especially on the clothing side! I'll get on the phone to Avo tomorrow. Thank you all!
