Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone has the e-mail address' or any other contact details for the news groups, like BBC, Channel 4 etc.

I am trying to source the follwoing bits of news footage for a production.

News footage about each crash from Channel 4 news (more desirable) and BBC New.

Southall crash - 17th September 1997

Ladbroke Grove crash - 5th October 1999

Hatfield crash - 17th October 2000

Potter's Bar crash - 10th May 2002

Cumbria crash - 24 february 2007

inital breaking news stories about each, reports from each news station, and anything in recent news that relates to each crash eg. Paddington (Ladbroke grove) settlement

They are to be used in sections of AV throughout the show, sometimes with out sound.

Thanks.

This may not be a sensible suggestion, but have you thought about looking on YouTube?

The quality may not be the best, but it's worked for me recently. If you find one you want, PM me and I'll tell you how to copy it off of YouTube

While copying out of YouTube may be tempting, it would instantly break copyright regulations unless the owner of the YouTube footage has specifically said that the footage can be used in the situation you're talking about.

Add to that the fact that much of the YouTube footage breaks copyright as the copyright owner didn't post it there, and you're on extremely dodgy ground.

To do this legally, you must contact the copyright owner.

For the BBC, this might be a good place to start.

For Channel Four News, it's less obvious, but here may help.

Looked n Youtube, however, there are no clips of use there.

I have tired to get into contact with the BBC etI will keep people posted.

I'd steer clear of 'social networking' sites for this type of thing really....but....I may be able to help if you haven't sourced the footage yet....my wife works in legal & business affairs at the beeb and I know some people at ITN news....

PM me for details....glad to help

The BEEB certainly make money out of selling repeats! I see no reason why repeat rights on a news clip should not be available for the correct asking and payment. Really its a question of finding the correct contact to arrange the deal.
