Stu Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Quick question... Whats the ML software like on these desks? (compared to other similarly priced desks?) CheersStu
Rob Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Well there is enough to get you going, but the lack of encoder wheels can make it a tad slow. It hasn't quite got the flexibility or ease of use of a Frog for instance. PS: To all you Frog loathers: I know, I agree, get over it! :** laughs out loud **:
Potassium Neuf Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Have you looked at the Illusion 500 with moving light software :** laughs out loud **:
Shaun Foster Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 We have an express 48/96 which I believe is the same software, and am about to program a show with movers next week. The only problems being ive never programmed a show before and ive never used movers (on my own, anyway). The software is, like Rob says, enough to get you going. It has some personalities for a few fixtures such as mac 500's (no mac 250's though :** laughs out loud **: ) and more can be loaded. It doesnt have any encoder wheels so all levels have to be set with the trackpad, and there are no shape generators or pallets to help. It is possible to create focus points and groups though. There is probably more than that, that I don't know of. If anyone could explain it better this would be of help to me as well. (ps. does anyone know why our trackpad doesnt work properly? when I move my finger up or down, the levels change, but when I take my finger off again the jump back or forward)

I use the express 250 all the time with movers and scrollers as well as conventionals and have never had a problem with the track pad like this, they should hold there position unless you press release.
SparkySteve Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 yuk! yuk! yuk! You might get the impression I'm not a fan, You could be right! I find even the simplists of tasks tedious and longwinded... on that note, does anyone know if you can/or how to get a complete que list up, where you can read all the cues and their up/dn, link, etc... I find it a tad annoying only seeing two or three at a time and the last edited
Djbarryblue Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 one of the soft keys should bring up a complete cue list and you can scroll up and down useing the up down arrow key to veiw them

Go into Blind mode, there's a softkey that's called Cue Sheet (or something similar) which will give you a list of cues with timing information, etc. Orif you're looking for a cue/level spreadsheet, there's another softkey marked (surprisingly enough) Spread Sheet (or similar). Can't remember whether you page up and down these displays with the arrow keys, or whether there are page-up and page-down softkeys ...
