Big ol' 1950s microphone

Hi,

 

Making one of those big, bulky chrome microphones that you see in the old movies where the radio man broadcasts the latest news. They had rows of slots or holes and they sat on a short stand on the table.

 

If anyone here has made one before, I'd appreciate any clues you can give me.

Hey, guys! Sorry I haven't got back to you all. I've been waiting for the Blue Room to notify me about answers to my post. Seems they don't do that here.

 

Anyway, thanks for all the great suggestions, links, and pics. I've decided on the mike, and I'm halfway through making it now. I chose the mike which looks like a huge medicine capsule, you know the type. Making it out of plastic and drilling holes all around the top half. Not too bad so far.

 

As for your offer to lend me yours, Ken, thanks, but you'd have to wait for me to get there. I'd be coming from Australia!! :unsure: Thanks anyway.
