Ynot Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 When people talk about Leko spots, I tend to think of THIS sort of lantern. So I was a bit surprised when Ebay threw up THIS item - more akin to a Prelude, with an axial lamp housing.... Y' live 'n' learn...!B-)

For some reason, we have one under the bench in our workshop ...Aaaah.....I recall the Brio range by name, but never came across a real one...!And Jon doesn't have a very good pic of the Brio on the archive website - might drop him a note and point this one out to him....
gareth Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Thinking about it, maybe (and I'm guessing here ...) the Brio-shaped unit marked as a Leko took an axial 1kW lamp like the old Lekos, and that became the Brio when fitted with a GKV. Or maybe not!

J Pearce Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Derby Playhouse has a few brios. I have no info on their tech specs, I just hang them where the plan tells me to, but one of their crew higher in the ranks may be able to provide more info.
JMC Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Hmm.. yes... Brios... I usually come across them in the "B Stock" lamp storage areas of various places... IE, only use if we have to
Salazar Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I'm in Canada so the names of the fixtures are a bit different. We have 18 Strand "Lekolite Zooms," the 25/50 degree version, in our theatre's inventory. They look exactly like the one in the photo. They are identical to the Brio listed on this spec sheet: http://www.strandarchive.co.uk/lanterns/do...ts/brio1997.pdf except ours have ALZAK aluminum reflectors, not glass ones. Not bad little zooms, handy for things like shins where the dancers are going to run into them occasionally. Not nearly as nice as an SL zoom though. We used to use FLK lamps in them, now we use the same GLA we use in our SL's.
tonythetechie Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 That Leko does look exactly like my brios. At Northern Broadsides I have about 12 which were bought around 1995, I am currently touring 2 of them for specific gobos on my current tour. (But only for when the venue hasn't anything more suitable.) Tony
Kate Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 The Brio was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction by Strand when the Source4 profiles were launced by ETC.They should have taken their time and developed it more. For example the Brio doesn't have a rotating gate like the S4.Eventually it was pulled and replaced with the SL range of axial profiles. Just realised I'm still logged in as my fiancee! I'm Mikey really...
