AndyJones Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 What is the left hand wheel for? I have never found a way to use it. I have searched on the desks 'help' menus but cant find an answer. I thought it might be either for manually controlling fade times or for if you have a designer sat next you who wants to control intensities? please help! AndyJones edited for spelling
matt_beal Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 You pretty much figured it out, It is a rate wheel, it can be used to control rate of fades, chases etc. Don't ask me how as I've never used it but I think you use the soft keys on the playback screen to set the rate to manual, at least something along those lines. Sorry I can't be more specific, it's just something I've skimmed past in the manual during a bit of light reading! B-) Hope that helps! Matt
JMC Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Hit the "RATE" softkey above X1 playback (and/or X2), you will then be able to speed up or slow down cues while they are running in real-time! Very useful... To exit this mode hit "UNRATE" For editing of FX speeds, you should find that in the console help files somewhere.. It's not something I use often, so can't quite recall the sequence of buttons! EDIT: Just found the reference; The fade and step times are recorded in the effect, but can be changed while the effect is running. To change the fade time of an effect press [FX TIME] then press {FADE RATE} and use the Rate Wheel on consoles with two wheels or the Level Wheel on consoles with one wheel to increase or decrease the fade time. Both the up and down fade time will be changed. To change the step time of an effect press [FX TIME] then press {STEP RATE} and use the Rate Wheel to increase or decrease the step time. This changes the step time for all steps proportionally. Having altered the timings on the rate wheel, you can use [uPDATE] [TIME] [FX] [number] [*] to update them into the FX.
