Abstract DMX linking problems

hello all, im looking for some info as most of my searches in google in the past has pointed me to here. so I thought id join up!!

anyways I have for a rig

6 x abstract futurescan II 150s

3 x Abstract futurescan Ice

5 x Abstract Gladiator ICE

2 x Abstract Gladiator HLX 250s

2 x Abstract Duo Colour Changers

right I have a Abstract club 32 controller and cant seem to get half of this to work with the controller. The manual states they do work but im unsure of jumpers etc.

the futurescan and gladiator ICE models work and have 10 jumpers per fixture. however, the other gladiators and futurescans have 6 jumper settings (also have jack inputs) and wont do anything on the controller, however there is nothing wrong with the DMX signal and I've seen these working linked up.

but instead of having seperate DMX controls, I wanted everything to run off one controller and as they are all abstract, thouht it would run on the club 32.

any ideas would be great

many thanks

The Club 32 is only an 8 head controller (32 DMX channel) so you can only control 8 heads.

Try setting all the dip switches to the same address (1 for example), just to make sure they all do they same thing. If they do, you know that everything is ok. If not, you have a problem somewhere.

If everything is ok, then you will need to double up on dip addreses (so the lights are doing the same thing) to be able to get down to 8.

Which is a long way of saying "Your console can't do it"

Your console simply does not have the capacity to run all that equipment properly.

You'll need to replace the controller with something that has a high enough channel and fixture count - there are several threads here describing possible controllers, and a few in the FAQ above.

Older abstract models had pins 2 & 3 reversed on the DMX input. It is worth checking that.
Shouldn't be a problem with it being an Abstract desk as well. I've got a Club 32 knocking about somewhere that I sometimes send out when people just want a couple of lights running on a light show for a house party or something.

The problem is that he's got too many heads - either a bigger controller is required, or running them in groups - I'd go for a slightly bigger controller though.

but, if some lights have swapped pins, and others don't there will still be a need for pin swaps to correct the signal for all lights.
