notheruser Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Can anyone tell me where I can get replacement screw-on 3.5mm jacks for Sennheiser ME2's? I love these mics, but the strain relief on the jack is awful, with the consequence that mishandling always ends up with broken wires in the lead, right at the moulded strain relief. I've read here and elsewhere that normal 3.5mm jacks are not a good substitute, but I can't find anyone supplying the screw-on type. It would be nice to get these, rather than keep chucking ME2's in the bin!
Matt Riley Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Don't chuck ME2s in the bin!!! IIRC Metal replacement screw on jacks are available from sennheiser themselves. Then, when they break just resolder them :) The quickest way to get hold of replacements like this would be through your nearest hire company, who probably stock evo wireless kit, and will keep these sort of spares in stock. basilbrush1982 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 the strain relief on the jack is awful, Also another tip, make a loop of cable coming out of the jack and then tape it onto the jack - solves this problem, I always do this whenever I have an ME2.
Ynot Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I get mine through Stage LX, though most suppliers should be able to source them for you. (The last couple of bags I've had are also black rather than chrome). I also add a bit of heatshrink to strengthen the cable at the plug.
notheruser Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 Thanks for all the tips guys. David, I had a quick look in the Canford catalogue but couldn't see them - do you by any chance have a part number? I'll use the cable loop and heatshrink tips - should save me a fortune! Thanks again!

The Senn part number is 89317, do a google for this and it will throw up a few suppliers, sit down when you look at the price
