creating personalitys for my new pearl

so I now eagerly await the upgrade in software for the usb but in the meantime....

my CP stagescans work fine, but for those smaller gigs I have some tas mini ultrascan 200s. The mk 1 versions have the shutter open when the value is 0 and are strobing when the value is at full so I can't just invert the channel. I've looked at the txt of the R20 file for it but can't see a way around this (other than buying some better little scans but that I just can't afford)

any ideas?

cheers. matt p

Is it just me being dense, or have you not actually said what the problem is?

Something to do with the Locate command making the shutter go to 100%? If thats the case, just change the locate command setting in the fixture file to 0...

Apologies if I'm blatantly missing what your trying to get at, but just can't really see what your getting at. :D

*Edit - Whatever your problem is, if you can't fix it yourself try putting it down in the bug report section of the personality website or just give em' an email!*

hi mate, sorry about not explaining myself properly, the locate command? I guess thats the "on" command in the table?

Cheers for that, that solves part of the problem but when they have no DMX sent to them, the natural state for them is to be open. If I want to record a playback that turns them on when I activate the memory I can't. I have to have it so that bringing up the fader turns them off.

basically.

0-63 = open

64-127 = closed

128 - 255 = strobing

what I think I need is to be able to tell the pearl to send 64-127 when it should be sending 0-63 and vice versa or am I just being a muppet with my programming?

I'm not sure if this is any clearer, it may just be that I'm getting something really simple wrong here, its a bank holiday after all and I should stop working soon! :P

cheers

If the channels are LTP then you can program a memory at value zero (open) and set to mode 2 (option after pressing [memory] button or use [edit times])

Manually set shutter channel to closed after programming and press [clear]

Now unit will be in closed state & raising fader will lower the value proportionally by fader until you reach the open state.

Erm.. your a pearl user and you don't know what home/locate does :P ... You know, you select some fixtures, hit ML menu, then top button (a) - Locate.. makes the MLs come on and p/t to 50%/50%...

I see what your problem is now.. only suggestion I can think of at the moment is, you see this in the r20 file:

1 1 H 5 100 1N O 1 "Shutter" 0 0 0

Well. that last 0 is the lolight level. Sounds to me as if thats the 'DMX value when "off" command'. So try changing that one to something in what should be the shutter closed value (64-127 = closed).

*Dam, beaten to it... sort of.. Hope my or Niclights suggestion works for you :))

cheers guys,

when I said "whats the locate command" I meant where in the table in the R20 file not on the desk! :P

never played with the fixture files before but cheers for the info will try both those methods.

note to self... get some trackspots instead.......

time passes.........

cheers for the help The hi/low lights seem to be for high lighting when editing. Setting it to ltp seems the way, that method works but I end up with an ltp ch (mind you, it's either on or off so that shouldn't be a prob!) The other poss I came up with is if I reduce the max level of the channel (5th row in the r20 spec) by half this should cut off the strobing section. I can then invert it on the desk or in the r20 file. Sounds good but don't work. when I invert it, either on the desk or in the r20 file it plays 100% to 50% therefore only the strobing section, when not inverted it plays 0% - 50% and I need it to play 50% - 0%

:) game over

I'm sure one of their guys'll have an idea or two.
