I'll bet this starts a flame-war!

Some hate them, some love them; I find them "alright", and nice and portable.

Runs, looking for Nomex... :P

Bose certainly have opinionated and vocal followers and detractors!

I was looking at getting two 402s in line each side as an approach to L1 performance without the price tag.

Slapping two 402s like tha won't work, cabinet edges, and driver spaceing will create some horrible lobeing and comb filtering, I'd stick one further down the room, as a delay, or whereever your lacking in power.. as long as you don't put to much low end through tthem you'll get enough level out of them for background replay.

Have no idea why everybody seems to dis these, and the 802s, some appliication these are perfect.. some not so..

A think a lot of hatred (certainly my hatred) comes from seeing a lot of venues with 4/802s dealing with live sound. I think they're nice speakers for CD playback, like the scenario here, or cinemas, etc - just really not suited for live work.

Of course, this is only my opinion, and one I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with.

I'm not a big fan of Bose, mainly because the majority of the time they are being used for the wrong application. In my humble opinion, the one things Bose systems are really suited for is for playback of anything pre recorded and they reproduce the sound really well (I have a Bose system installed in my car). They are just not much use for anything else!

The trouble is that they do work for many people. We've had rock and roll through 4 a side 802s with a couple of 302 subs each side and to be fair, it was fine.

When Bose PA systems first appeared they were one of the few systems that sounded good without being physically large. Remember that this was in the days of 4X12 column speakers with added high frequency horns if you really wanted to push the boat out. Nowadays there is a much wider choice of quality compact PA systems but Bose were one of the first to sound good.

Cheers

Hi happily used 402's on small conferences for years, good on vox and music replay. Music sounded fine even without controller (which can be "bodged" using graphic eq).

Hope that helps
