cedd Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 hi all I work in atrade that uses touch screens quite often, however am struggling to find a more "domestic" supplier of them. Most of our work ones also include a smallform PC running linux which isn't what I'm after. My basic need is this; I run sound replay software on my PC for shows (I know that's a sound subject, but you guys are the AV people so in my mind it made sense!) and would like a touch screen to replay my sound queues without any mouse use or clicking of buttons. I've tried CPC, with whom I have a personal account and they don't seem to have any. Top and bottom of it I need a TFT display, with touch screen that will plug into (hopefuly) USB and let me operate standard windows mouse commands from the screen. Anybody know of any? The cheaper the better!!! Do I need software running on my PC to make it work and is the software bundled with the display? Cheers C
MarkPAman Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 This is not cheap, but looks good if you want it in a rack. There are versions with a keyboard as well.
Fletch Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 If you want a robust option (possibly bullet proof!?!) go for KME - although they're not cheap but are very good for lots of abuse - I think you need to ask for the touch screen option. I've installed lots of these for use in radio studios for instant reply of effects etc. The ones we had worked via RS232, but they might do a USB one now, and yes they simply emulated the mouse, you loaded on a simple driver / software app.
gnomatron Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Dabs sell them, you may have to hunt a bit though. And they're not cheap!
u_dakka Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I read in one of the magazines I get at work, about a system where you merely buy an overlay to an original screen, allowing you to use your existing monitor. *rummages around in his stuff* can't seem to find the article anywhere to hand. If I find it I'll link you the details. Think it was in AV News. andy
cedd Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Thanks for the replies, the first suggestion looks very suitable. As for the rackmount, it'd be lovely if I could afford it!!!!!
