Bootay Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'm just in the process of giving all the lights in one of the venues here a 'spring-clean'. While testing them all, one of the MX4s seems to have swapped the colour and gobo wheel. ie when the gobo is changed on Lightjockey, the colour wheel changes and vice versa.I tried to swap the cables but the steps on both wheels are different so neither the colours or gobos line up with the lens (but the correct wheels rotate). Anyone got any ideas? Cheers B
saturnx21 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hi there Were the cables to the steppers reversed? (i.e. has someone in the past changed them round) if they were the correct way before you changed them over, then do you have any other MX4's on the same address? if not try putting another one on the same address as the one thats playing up and see if the fault moves to the next MX4. If it does then it would suggest that the control software is not putting out the correct data to that address. Let me know how you get on!
Bootay Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 Hi there Cables are correct and I tried as you suggested to change the DMX address and the fault did indeed move to the fixture with the same address. I then tried an address of a working fixture and that solved the problem. So it would appear that Lightjockey is sending incorrect data to a couple of addresses (another fixture started to display incorrect functions as well!). Any suggestions as to the cure (appart from changing the DMX addresses to ones that work)? Thanks again B
andylights Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'm glad to say I haven't touched LJ for ages...but that problem sounds like a simple (software selectable) attribute swap, as you would expect to find for Pan and Tilt swap. As you have now confirmed the problem to be LJ, just check the DMX options for those fixtures that are playing up and make sure everything is normal ie no swaps! HTH Andy
