We are doing Man of La Mancha and I am on the hunt for some breast plates to hire from the 2nd of June until the 16th of June.

 

 

The two styled I am looking for are like this > http://www.wassonartistry.com/images/armor...us/IMG_1431.JPG with approx 36 chest.

 

 

And like this > http://www.swordsandarmor.com/images/AB101...ate_Harness.jpg this one is in a much bigger size approx 44 inches chest.

 

 

Also around the start of of May I am looking at getting a day hire of full suit of armour for a horse rider. This will be for the approx 36 chest.

 

Does anyone know where to get these from?

 

I have tried the national, but I am just wondering if there is anywhere else in the south that does them.

All the usual costume hire suspects will have bits of armour (Angels, BBC, RSC) but relatively few shows use it anymore so people are unlikely to have a large range of styles in multiple sizes. If you want to be quite specific then have it vac-formed by Peter Evans.

I never thought about the BBC, I tried RSC but still no reply.

 

I will Email Angles later I have never heard of them.

Just to check, you are trying the RSC costume hire dept - 01789 205 920 and not their general number.

 

The BBC costume hire are on 020 8576 1761.

 

Flame/Torbay may have some as well 01803 211 930. It is a long way to go and look at it but if you send them the pictures they may be able to send you something approximating what you want.

of many that come up under reenactment armour in google, Have they hire stock? Up To you! One of them has to be local and have hire stock. What can you trade? Credits, pictures.....

To let all know I sorted in the end and we went to the RSC and got the armour and a load of extra stuff.

 

Just the joys of returns next week.

I will be needing a suit of armour (nothing too specific - it is for panto, after all!!) in January.

I've e-mailed the links listed above, and am actively Googling as well, but always ready for more input.

Just for future ref. These guys make the armour favoured by major film stuntmen as it doesn't chop off bits of body part when they fall off the nags. Not at all cheap....but...
